On April 3, 2023, Alaska USA Federal Credit Union and Global Credit Union: A Division of Alaska USA Federal Credit Union will change their name to Global Credit Union. Learn more about this exciting change and our vision for the future.
This name change, the fourth in Alaska USA’s history, marks a significant milestone in our credit union’s journey. It provides an opportunity to reflect on everything that Alaska USA stands for and everything that we aspire to become as we move forward together, into an exciting future.
This new name is a better description of a membership that is distributed worldwide and more illustrative of our organizational commitments to accessibility anytime, anywhere in the world.
Since Alaska USA was founded in 1948 as Alaskan Air Depot Federal Credit Union, our organization has expanded far beyond the confines of the Air Depot and the borders of Alaska. We have members in all 50 states and all over the world. We have branches in Alaska, Arizona, California, Idaho, Washington, and now on military bases in Italy. We’ve grown to become what Alaska USA always has been—larger than life. Global.

The Global Credit Union name reflects the future of our combined organization, and represents the diversity of our membership, which spans all 50 states and over 20 countries. The new brand is a better representation of the geographical diversity that our memberships represent.
No. Current Global Credit Union: a division of Alaska USA member accounts will still have to be converted to Alaska USA systems on April 3rd. Separate communications related to account and system conversions will take place in the coming months. In addition, please see the merger landing page and FAQ’s for insights and answers related to system merger activities.
The credit union has always had a strong commitment to community and that won’t change. Our partners in the communities we serve will continue to receive our support through monetary donations and volunteerism. In fact, the Alaska USA Foundation recently surpassed $4 million in donations to organizations that provide need-based services to children, veterans, active-duty members of the military and their families, and local food banks and pantries. We expect our philanthropic efforts to grow even more in the future!
