Shhhhhh… do you hear that?
It’s the winds of change……Spring is in the air!!!
Thank goodness! Sure, Winter is nice…. nice like finding coffee grounds in your coffee.
Okay, we might be exaggerating a little but Winter is definitely not something we want to last forever. Those cozy nights in - or snowy adventures out - are okay for a while; but sunshine and warm outdoor adventures are a welcome change after a long, cold winter. Now that Spring has sprung its time to get out and enjoy some warmer days ahead.
We are fortunate to have four seasons here in the PNW and these transitions are beautiful to experience, especially Spring. Flowers starting to bloom, trees blossoming, lakes and rivers coming alive –it’s absolutely wonderful. Like watching mother nature take a breath of fresh air, awakening from her slumber and sharing her love in the form of beautiful scenery.
If you’re not a Winter enthusiast than you are probably feeing more than happy to hang up those bulky coats and slip into some sandals. After a stretch of feeling cooped up, Spring offers the chance to get out into the open and enjoy the outdoors. This does wonders not only for your mind and body but also your soul. It’s science that the woes of Winter can get us a bit down – shorter, darker days are a bust and Winter weather conditions can make traveling difficult.
So, if you’ve already got your hand on the front door knob, don’t let us keep you from getting outdoors! And if you need some inspiration, here are some fun ways to get out and enjoy Spring:
Trails – Enjoy the scenery on trails in your area. Walking, hiking, biking and running are fantastic ways to see all that nature offers while getting in some exercise and fresh air. It’s a great way to take time for yourself or maybe take a friend or family for a low-cost, fun-filled outing.
Gardening – Nothing says Spring more than gardening. Soak up some vitamin-D while you plant some flowers or vegetables. Get close and personal with mother nature – who knows? You might find a new hobby in the process. You don’t need a green thumb to enjoy landscaping while putting down new mulch or pulling weeds. The accomplishment of a freshly mowed lawn or revived flower beds is incredibly rewarding.
Spokane Skyride – Are you more of a thrill seeker? Then the Spokane Skyride is for you. If you haven’t tried it, it’s an experience you’ll never forget! Just be sure to check hours and availability before you grab your keys and go.
Wine Tastings – With warmer weather comes outdoor dining! What’s better than a great glass of wine while you watch the sunset up at Arbor Crest? Many of our local wineries are offering outdoor seating options, so grab your friends and reserve a table before they fill up.
Ziplining – Another one for you thrill seekers –ziplining in the PNW has been a go-to for families and friends to enjoy year after year. Depending on the rush you’re looking for, you can start out easy or go all-in on more adventurous routes!
Farmer’s Markets – If you grew up in the PNW, you probably have fond memories of visiting the Farmer’s Market with your parents or grandparents. Beyond fruits and vegetables there are vendors of all kinds selling their crafts and art to check out. It’s a fum, leisurely way to shop local while getting outside and perhaps finding something new you never knew you needed.
There are so many ways to get outdoors and even more ways to make these outdoor adventures fun with family and friends. See what’s available around you and put in on your calendar!
We promise, with some fresh air, sunshine and good company (even if it’s just your own thoughts) you’ll be feeling great and planning your next outing before you can say, “Hello Spring!”
